Big News!

Millie was standing up in the family room so I ran to get the camera to take a picture. I sat down across the rug from her and lo and behold, she took me by surprise and WALKED right over to me! She's been taking a step here and there over the past couple of days but I wasn't expecting this. She must have known that since I had my camera it was a good time, and this way everyone could see her.

Yay Millie!

And Another Present

This tike bike is from her Auntie Carole.

The little balls make noise as she roams around the house.

She loved it right away (and so did Sylvia and Gus)!

Presents

Here's Millie opening a present (with Gus' help). This isn't a very exciting post, but some of you might appreciate it.

Her First Trip Around the Sun

Millie turned 1!!! I can hardly believe the year has gone by so fast. About 95% of the pictures I uploaded this morning were of Millie so that's what you're going to see this week.

Here's Millie with her first cake. It was easy (the easiest cake I've ever made from scratch), delicious, and chalked FULL of sugar.

I know her eyes are shut but I still think this is a cute picture.

She's testing it out.

Still not sure.

Might as well dig in.

Hmmmm.....

This is pretty good.

And, that's enough!

New (To Her)

I know her outfit is a little old-fashioned.

But I just can't get enough...

...of Millie in this dress.

More Early Starts

Millie loves to tinker on the piano. Usually she's on the ground, reaching up over her head to press the keys. Rex must have dragged the high chair in to give her a better reach. I wasn't there but I found these pictures on my camera.

Favorites

This has been Millie's favorite toy for awhile. It is the one thing I can sit her down with everyday and know she will be entertained for at least a couple of minutes. She caught on to the operation pretty quickly.

My Little Bean Eater

Millie's new favorite food is the pinto bean! She likes noodles too, especially cheesy ones. And I can usually get her to take a couple bites of any of the green jarred baby foods. She refuses to sit in her high chair and can squeeze her way out even if she's tightly buckled in. That's what she's doing in the picture (even the beans couldn't keep her in her seat).

Another Tooth

Millie's getting her 7th tooth! It's the tiny one to the side on the bottom.

She Loves Me

Oh Millie, you are so scrumptious!

Here's a sweet Millie moment that I will always remember. I was nursing her the other evening. She fell asleep and after awhile her head fell back onto my arm. Still asleep she smacked her lips and said "Mahhh". Oh so sweet. She did it again later that night.

Last night she woke up around 10:30pm ready to play. Rex got her and pretended like he was going to take her away. This worried her just enough that when he handed her over she rested her head on my chest and laid there not moving for several minutes. Another unforgettable moment as that rarely happens around here. She's usually too interested in nursing, or my glasses, or trying to pull my lips off.

Millie Magic

Feast your eyes on my sweet pea...

Millie is the only child I've had that will eat jarred baby food. She only likes the savory dishes though. No prunes and oatmeal for her. She's also getting better at gumming up little pieces of real food. She loved the corned beef and Irish Soda bread from yesterday. Sylvia refused practically all food until she was a year old. Gus was around 8 or 9 months before he was interested in more than nursing.
